Queensland Community Alliance invites you to be part of:
Toowoomba Local Listening 2026
We are holding 20+ Local Listening events across Queensland to find out more about the community’s needs and priorities so that we can act together to transform people’s lives. Come and join us to:
- Be heard, share your stories – your experiences and your knowledge
- Connect with others and learn from their stories
- Build the relationships to collaborate and take action together
What is it?
- A welcoming and safe opportunity to have your say and make it count!
- First, we share a meal, meet people and chat.
- Then we form groups of about 7 to share stories – about the pressures we are facing and how they have affected us, or our family and friends.
- There is a group leader to make sure it all goes smoothly: everyone will have a chance to share, and stories will be recorded with permission.
- At this Local Listening you will be invited to share about:
- An issue or pressure that is important to you or causes hardship or challenge for you or those you love,
- Energy affordability, renewables, and disaster recovery,
- Workplace rights, and
- Social isolation, loneliness and community infrastructure.
What happens next?
Local Listening is just the beginning:
1. Local Listening takes place across Queensland from Feb – May 2026.
2. The process of Discernment takes place from mid-2026
As an Alliance, we work on things that are deeply felt and widely felt. The discernment process is where we make collective decisions about what we act on, based on the stories heard through listening.
3. Then, we act . Individuals and organisations come together in alliance:
- to speak out and to act,
- to negotiate with the people who make decisions, and
- to grow our collective capacity to act for the Common Good in Queensland.
