Our Work
DDEC advocates on a range of environmnetal issues in the South West Queensland and Toowoomba region, focusing on ecosystem protection and action on climate change.
Renewables
done right
We urgently need more renewable energy but it needs to be done right by ensuring our precious natural places, important farmland and communities are all protected and respected.
Protect
Deongwar Forest
Deongwar State Forest, located on Dungibara Country in South East Queensland, is an ecological treasure and needs to be protected from further logging. It is home to endangered habitat vital for biodiversity and is a cornerstone of the region’s natural heritage.
Tree
Protections
Ongoing tree clearing for development is threatening the natural beauty and ecological health of our region. Trees are an integral part of what makes Toowoomba the “Garden City,” providing shade, cooling our streets, supporting biodiversity, and enhancing the unique character of our neighbourhoods.
Caring for Koalas
on the Downs
DDEC is committed to protecting and caring for Koalas on the Darling Downs. Through advocacy, direct action, and collaboration with local groups, we strive to ensure these iconic marsupials have a future in our region. Below are some of the key initiatives we are undertaking to support Koalas and their habitat.
