About the Event
Join Protect Trees Toowoomba for a creative, community-driven sign painting session! We are getting together to craft bold, witty, and eye-catching signs for a upcoming fun photo shoot. There will be warm drinks and snacks to keep us going.
The shoot will take place right next to the iconic “Welcome to Toowoomba, the Garden City” sign on the highway into town. We want to use satire and strong visuals to highlight the stark irony between our city’s famous “Garden City” title and the current lack of actual regulatory protections for our mature trees.
Whether you are a seasoned artist or can barely draw a straight line, your voice and your hands are needed. Let’s use some humor to make a serious point about preserving our local canopy!
What to Bring
-
Clothing: Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a splash of paint on.
-
Materials (Optional): We will have cardboard, paints, and brushes on hand, but feel free to bring extra recycled cardboard, old wooden stakes, sheet offcuts, or your favorite thick markers.
-
Ideas: Bring your best puns and slogans making fun of the lack of tree protections!
Slogan Inspiration to Get Started:
“Welcome to the Garden City (BYO Trees)”
“Toowoomba: Where the ‘Garden’ is Heritage-Listed, but the Trees Aren’t”
“Tree Protections? We’re Out on a Limb!”
